ROANOKE, Va. – A brand new grant will give college students in rural Virginia the instruments they want for the long run.
On Monday, Gov. Ralph Northam introduced greater than $1.three million in state grants to assist the implementation of Virginia’s Laptop Science Requirements of Studying.
Floyd County Public Faculties will obtain $77,166 every year for the subsequent three years to work with the Science Museum of Western Virginia and Virginia Tech to coach academics and create a pc science curriculum for Okay-12 college students.
The museum’s director of philanthropy, Mary Roberts-Baako, stated that youngsters must study pc science as a result of it may be utilized in nearly any job, from agriculture and farming, to advertising or drugs.
“If we don’t put money into it, in schooling, then we’re actually doing our college students a disservice in getting ready them for the 21st century workforce,” Roberts-Baako stated.
